24 Hours in Maastricht – Dormio Holidays

Besides spending my holidays outside my own country I also like to enjoy my free time at nice cities in the Netherlands. Maastricht is one of those cities that I’m coming back to. It truly feels like being in a cute French city but it’s only +1 hour away from my hometown. Together with my boyfriend and my mom we headed to Maastricht on a gloomy Sunday to spend a day at Dormio Resort Maastricht.

Dormio Resort Maastricht is only 10 minutes from Maastricht city centre. It’s a pretty designed holiday park in the south of Holland, located on the famous Dousberg. They have more than 100 holiday homes, 74 apartments, a swimming pool, a resortshop, a Food Court, grand café ‘t Proeflokaal, the bakery and so much more. It truly felt like a small village and I wouldn’t living here or owning my own holiday home.

When we arrived it was almost storming and while checking in we heard we had to wait for our holiday home being ready for us. So after checking in we decided to spend a few hours at Loods5 for a lunch and some interior shopping – luckily it only was a 10 min drive away. While browsing around this huge interior store I got the phonecall that our room was ready – what a service! After a good lunch we headed back to Dormio and we couldn’t wait to check our stay for the next 24 hours. At home I live in an apartment so I was really happy to see that this was a real small house divided into two levels. The most interesting thing was been found in the garden. I especially chose for the Spa holiday home that has a jacuzzi and a sauna – Omg! Yes!  During the day the weather cleared up a bit so we immediatly changed into our swimwear and headed to the jacuzzi. It was the perfect treat we needed after a busy week and a gloomy day. After spending our time outside and relaxing in the jaccuzi it was time to change our clothes and get ready for our dinner.

Our planning was to go out for dinner somewhere in the downtown Maastricht but due to the weather we didn’t wanted to go far from our cosy holiday home. So instead we went for the dinner facilities of Dormio Maastricht. We chose to eat at the indoor food trucks which was located close to the ‘Proeflokaal’ – this is really a cool concept and cosy to have a casual diner. You could choose from pizza’s to more asians and everything in between. We went for delicious fries with ‘Zuurvleisch’ which is a typical dish for the south of the Netherlands.

The day after it was already our time to go, but before all of that we went to the ‘Proeflokaal’ to have breakfast. This breakfast had all the ingredients to get your day started and they even make you scrambled eggs which is my personal favorite. After this it was time to explore the area of Maastricht. Down below I will share some things to do when you’re in Maastricht too. I can really can recommend this way of holiday because it’s a casual way of relaxing and it’s all up to you what to do. For example, you can stay in your holiday home the entire time and and relax and make Dormio feel like your own small village. But Maastricht has so much to offer and you can be active and entertain yourself as much as possible. I already made friends and family excited about this stay and propably this wouldn’t be my last stay. Hope to be back soon again!
