Oh, it’s that time of the year! The last few days my inbox was exploding of all the black friday/holiday/cyber monday emails and asking me to splurge in all the great sales that are happening. Yes, I love to get some discount but on the other side it really overwhelms me and I rather stay away from the wide world web these days. So much information!
It more feels like all the shops are screaming for my attention and I rather stay true to myself and my own wish list. And I know, it’s not easy to resist the temptation but it’s just part of the big game. Maybe I sound a bit weird now but lately I really don’t get that excited when sale hits and I only go after the items I’ve been craving for several months. A true investment piece or something I know I’m gonna wear for the next few years. So that’s why I’m sharing today a few shoppingtips for this sale season…
A FEW TIPS TO GET THROUGH SALE SEASON
1. Stick to your list / It’s easy when you see all the sales around you but it’s a must to keep a list of things you really need close so you can check it all the time. I like to have my list on my phone so I can check it when I’m on shopping spree and want to avoid spontanous buys.
2. Understand sale season / To make sale season work the best for you it’s all about understanding the system. Between seasonal sales and the regular sale cycle, there’s really no reason you should have to pay full price for something – unless, of course, it sells out and you don’t get a chance to make your move. When you know you still love something a few month later you know the chance of a ‘bad buy’ is reduced to a minimum. For this time of the year, you can get something with discount right now, but maybe it’s better to wait until end of December/start of January when the ‘real’ sale season starts.
3. Go for timeless pieces / It’s easy to go for the bold and crazy pieces during sale season because they’ve got the biggest discounts. I rather go for timeless pieces that I’ll wear more seasons. Like that classic blazer, crispy white blouse or black leather jacket.
